Ombak Bagus offers tours to several surfspots on the west, south and east coast of Bali. You will be accompanied by an experienced surf guide, who can show you the best way to make the most of the spot.
Tours to nearby surfspots:
- Pantai Brawa: Beachbreak and reefbreak. Left and righthander.
-
Tugu (Pantai Batubolong): (spot is named after the hotel wich is located here). Reefbreak. There are 2 breaks; Tugu, left and righthander and the " Old Man", this is a very slow wave and is good for longboarders. You can surf here with low-mid-hightide.
-
Canggu: Reefbreak, has about 3-4 breaks. Left and righthanders. There are sometimes waves of 3-5 meter high so you can ride barrels here. The waves can be very powerful.
-
Pantai Pererenan: Reefbreak next to Canggu. Left and righthander.
-
Pantai Seseh: Reefbreak. Left and righthander. This is not a very well-known spot, so outside the weekends (when all the locals surf here) it is rather quiet in the line-up.
-
Secret surfspot: Reefbreak, left and righhander, 30 min drive from our homestay.
Kuta & Legian (beachbreaks)
-
Double Six: Left and righthanders.
-
Jayakarta: Left and righthander. Can be crowded with locals working on the beach. Here you can rent beach chairs for Rp 10.000 a day.
-
Padma: Left and righthanders. Lots of local pro surfers. In de summer months (june-august) you can ride barrels here.
-
Alam Kulkul: Close to Padma, 500 m to the south. Lefthander and righthanders. If it's too busy at Padma this is a good alternative. But if the swell is too small, on the other hand, Padma is better.
-
Half Way: Famous spot for surfcompetitions and always crowded. If the surf is not good in all the other surfspots in Kuta, halfway is still breaking. All surfspots in Kuta and Legian are good for surfing with mid and hightide.
Tours to spots on "The Bukit"
-
Balangan & Dreamland: Enjoy the reefbreaks at these bounty style whitesand beaches! The drive is about 1,5 hour from the homestay. Balangan's soft left break is only surfable with not too much and not too little swell, so if it doesn't work out, we can move on to Dreamland. Here the short right hander doesn't hollow out much, but does give the occasional barrel. The much longer lefthander barrels much easier. But get off the wave before you come to the beach otherwise you will be eating some sand.... Best surf with lowtide.
-
Bingin: This lefthander is not very long, but it is famous for its finely tuned barrels. If you can't get barreled here, you can't get barreled anywhere! This spot can get very crowded however.
-
Padang-Padang: Be prepared for the "Pipeline" of Bali! This vicious lefthander breaks in very shallow water, so you have to be very sure of you ability, before paddling out.
-
Uluwatu: This is the most famous surfspot of Bali, featured in many surffilms, and popular with pro surfers. Here the "lefthanders seem to peel for ever and ever" as they say in the film " Morning of the Earth". Uluwatu has many different breaks, like " The Peak", "Racetrack" and "Temples".
You can also do a combination trip: See the Uluwatu Temple, Kecak dance and surf in 1 or more spots. For a description and prices see the Uluwatu full or half day tour at "Cultural Tours".
Nusa Dua
-
Nusa Dua: A boat brings you out to the reef at Nusa Dua, where the big wave righthander is made up of three peaks. It is best surfed during rainy season (November to April). At Sri Lanka you can paddle out easily, where you can get fully barrelled.
-
Geger Reef: Reefbreak, righthander and lefthander. You can take a boat from Geger or Niko beach to get to Geger. Sometimes very big 7-8 meter high. Strong currents.
-
Niko Reef: Named after the Niko hotel wich is situated in front of the spot. Short lefthander, long righthander.
This spot is also best surfed during the rainy season. Serangan is also called "Turtle Island". Left and righthander. You can surf here with low, mid and hightide. If you go surf with lowtide you should were booties.
Sanur Reef
Kuta Reef and Airport right/left
For All these spots you will need a boot to get there. This will cost you about rp 50.000 p.p.
Balian and Medewi
Located about 1,5 (Balian) and 2 (Medewi) hours driving from the homestay, these 2 reefbreaks are perfect if you are looking for a more quiet place to surf. Both spots break over a rocky bottom though, so be careful, and take your booties! Both spots have a long lefthander but also some righthanders.
Note: The price for a trip to Medewi or Balangan is Rp 500.000 p.p. by car. Minimum 2 persons This is for a total of 10 hours. The drive is 2 or 3 hours, depending on traffic and where we will leave from.
