Traditional  ‘bale bengong’ in the homestay
A place to think, relax and find peace. This is what a ‘bale bengong’ means to the Balinese people (literally it means ‘house of think’ in Balinese language). This open wooden house with traditional roof, provides shade for the sun and protection from the rain. There is a fan when it’s too hot, a light for when it’s dark, an electric point for the use of a laptop and pillows for extra comfort. The ultimate place to chill!

Paintings of Rae Vavra for sale
Mixed media artist Rae Vavra is exhibiting some of the paintings of her latest collection at the villa of Ombak Bagus. Rae is from Los Angeles and is currently living in Bali. Her collection, a mix of paintings and collage, is dedicated to Bali, “islands of the Gods” and it’s people. A part of her collection is inspired by the incredible Indo waves and surfing, both important elements of the Bali experience.

The paintings in the villa are for sale. Besides making paintings Rae creates art on used surf boards, using a mix of paint, graffiti and (surf) photos. This can be tailor made, using your own surf photos. For more information about the paintings or the surf board art, please contact Rae (raevavra@gmail.com). Check out her website for the whole collection (www.ndiginusonline.com).
